Earl Balthazar (Incumbent)

|
Attended Louisiana State University |
Color technologist well versed in color science, human color perception, and industrial applications of color with well over twenty-five years of experience as a color matcher, color lab manager, and applications specialist (Polyone, Georgia Gulf, Ethyl Corp). I have assisted customers and manufacturing sites in achieving the best results in producing and assessing colored products, and have extensive expertise in establishing instrument supported color matching and quality control programs. This experience has found focus in my current role as an independent consultant and sales agent (Datacolor, Equitech) helping clients in the plastics, coatings, ink, and textile industries to understand both the intricacies and importance of color, and implement the necessary controls and processes to improve efficiencies. |
Coming from a polymer compounding background I have always felt that I represented the “where the rubber meets the road” color user and have tried to bring that perspective to the CAD BOD table. As a member of the division since 1987, a member of the CAD Board since 2000, and now a past Chair of the division, I have seen the great value that CAD brings to its members in terms of technical and educational programs and I wish to continue working within the board to provide the best possible content. I will be chairing the CAD RETEC® planned for 2014 in New Orleans and am currently working out the initial details. My other past contributions include active participation in many board and committee activities, serving as President and Councilor for my SPE section, and as the Chairperson for the successful CAD RETEC® 2005 which was held in Charlotte. I am an Honored Service Member of the Society. |

Joined CAD in 1990 and was first elected to the CAD Board of Directors in 2000. While on the CAD Board of Directors I have concentrated my efforts to ensure we have a successful RETEC including being the Technical Co-Chair of 3 conferences. Our RETEC is the premier gathering of professionals involved in the coloring of plastics and it is critical to keep it relevant and fresh. If elected, I will continue to work toward these goals and listen to new ideas on how to achieve them.. I am also looking for new ways for our organization to thrive in an environment where companies are cutting back costs for membership dues and travel to conferences.
